Itinerary

Day 1Marrakech-Tizi-N-Tichka-Ait Ben Haddou-Ouarzazate-Skoura-Dades Valley

The journey begins in Marrakech and travels into the High Atlas Mountains on steep, twisting roads, reaching the Tizi n’Tichka pass at 2260 meters above sea level. The high mountain pass provides breathtaking views of alpine scenery. You will arrive at one of the tour’s highlights after crossing the mountains: the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Kasbah Ait ben Haddou. It is a fortified town located along the historic caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakech. Because of its old, medieval appearance, Ait Ben Haddou has been utilized as a setting in a number of world-famous films made in Morocco. You will continue your way to Ouarzazate, where you will visit Atlas Studios and the Kasbah of Taourirt. The path goes on into the Valley of a Thousand Kasbahs. The first night will be spent in Dades Valley.

Day 2Dades Valley-Toudra Gorges-Erfoud-Rissani-Erg Chebbi

The second day of your expedition starts with a full breakfast at the hotel before a four-hour drive to Merzouga. Along the way, there will be opportunities to explore the little hamlet of Tinghir, stroll through the Toudra oasis, and then into the canyons before seeing two more towns, Erfoud and Rissani. You will encounter a camel caravan when you get to Merzouga. At this point, there will be an hour-long ride across the Erg Chebbi Dunes, where the trip will coincide with the Saharan sun setting. You will enjoy the sunset from the top of the sand dunes and continue the way to the desert camp, where you will have an amazing night. You will enjoy a delicious dinner and berber music with the locals.

Day 3Explore Merzouga Desert

On the third day of your adventurous journey through the Moroccan desert, you will visit Merzouga’s area. You will have breakfast at the camp; you will start your exploration of the desert area by 4×4 vehicle; you will start with a visit to a nomadic family and have a cup of tea with them; and you will learn about their history and lifestyle. You will continue the way to Khamlia village, where you will have the opportunity to enjoy and perform like locals. After learning the nomadic lifestyle and enjoying Gnaoua music, you will have a berber pizza for lunch in the same village. In the afternoon, you will have free time to explore the activities available in the desert region, and an overnight stay will be at the hotel with a wonderful dinner to round off the day.
